Pec Minor Stretch

Keeping in line with our recent theme of more advanced stretches, this week’s Quick Tip is a stretch for Pectoralis Major’s younger sibling, Pectoralis Minor. Although smaller and often overlooked, it plays an important role in the alignment of our shoulder girdle and deserves dedicated focused stretching too, whether you’re a desk worker, an athlete, or both! Next time you’re working on the Major to release that upper body tension, try out this stretch and see if you can feel the different muscles it targets. You can always ask your Psoas therapist to point this out for you and...

The Supraspinatus Stretch

This week’s Quick Tip was a special request from one of you. It targets one of the muscles of our rotator cuff called supraspinatus, and there are a few options for varying degrees of shoulder mobility. Why do this stretch, you ask? Most of our life activities pull us forward and the muscles in our chest/front of the shoulders shorten which can affect our posture, our breathing, etc. Stretching and receiving tissue work on the supraspinatus can help reset and stabilize the shoulder which in turn can lead to general upper body release. Be sure to take this slowly. Glute Activation for Runners & The Honey Badger Race Update

We hope you’re ready, because racing season is coming! Our longtime partner, Marathon Matt, just announced their first LIVE race in 18 months. The Honey Badger Half/10K/5K will be returning to China Camp Park in Marin on Sunday, July 18th. There will be a virtual option as well, but if you’re itching for that feeling you only get from running a live race, China Camp Park is a beautiful way to get back into it.   To celebrate, this week’s Quick Tip is an exercise called the alternating glute bridge to help wake up a lazy glute, an issue many runners face. But, you...

Windmill Exercise for Tight Shoulders and Backs

San Francisco has made it to the Yellow Tier, the least restrictive in California. Every business, big and small, is now open in our fine city, and over 75% of our staff is now fully vaccinated. We’ll still be practicing all of our health and safety protocols at the clinic, but we’re excited to feel the energy of this new rhythm.   Whether you’re struggling with some pesky shoulder tension from desk work or you’ve been getting out more often to play your favorite sport (many of our swimmers are back in the pool again!), this week’s Quick Tip is for you. Derek, who’s...
