Let’s work on those headaches.

With all that is happening in our lives, now including our local wildfire emergencies, it’s no wonder that we are hearing more about headaches from our viewers at home. This week we want to shift gears a little and help address this increasingly common problem with a new Quick Tip Video. We also want you to be able to find related videos easier (because we have more than 250 videos now!), so we’ve created a Headaches Playlist on our Youtube channel that should help. This week, Jenny’s showing us an alternative way to release the tissues around our Temporomandibular Joints (TMJ),...

Releasing the Rhomboids

Feeling like a back massage? Us, too! We might not be able to work on you yet, but there’s still some great ways to ease your back pain from home. One frequent cause of back pain are the rhomboids, those pesky between-the-shoulders muscles that always seem to get sore on us. We’re taking a look at ways to release them this week, with an exercise from Jenny that uses tennis balls and some gentle floor movements. Check out our Quick Tip Video to learn how to do it! Working out the Peroneal Muscles

Our lower leg muscles, compiled of an intricate web of muscle tissue, bear most of our body’s weight, and they can become tight and achy from a wide range of issues. So this week we’re bringing out the tennis balls to show you how to work out those lower leg muscles on your own, starting with the peroneal muscles. The effects of this work can be wide, from opening up the lower foot to releasing tension on the knee...

Releasing the Iliopsoas

Posted by on Jul 9, 2020 in Exercises, Muscle Release

This week we’re digging into the iliopsoas. This composite muscle links your legs and back together, and it can become chronically tightened when we sit for prolonged periods of time. When it does, the pelvis is pulled into a more forward-rotated position, often leading to back pain and tension throughout the core. We’ve asked senior deep tissue therapist Jason Garcia what we can do about it. In this week’s Quick Tip Video, Jason will show us how we can use a posture ball to give some attention to these often-ignored muscles. Give it a try during your next stretching routine and, if you’d...

Loosen those shoulders!

As you may have heard, Mayor Breed announced a few days ago that the city might allow for Massage/Bodywork to start as early as June 29th, however yesterday she made the call to delay that as case reports have spiked. It’s a reminder to us of how important our commitment is to ensure everyone’s safety when we reopen. We’re sticking with our timeline to begin bodywork again around August 13th (with approval from the City and State, of course), and we’ll be using the extra time to finish testing some final products, developing protocols, and implementing some clinic upgrades. We...
