Quick Tip: Are your shoulders achy?

Many of our clients — whether they’re swimmers, recovering from surgery, or putting in long hours at a desk — experience discomfort in the shoulders. Though good bodywork can be crucial for transforming that discomfort, there’s also a lot we can do on our own to keep our shoulders healthy.

In this week’s Quick Tip, Jenny Lightstone demonstrates one great technique for releasing the infraspinatus muscle — one of the four that make up the shoulder’s rotator cuff. This one’s great for those of you with achy shoulders, or with limited range of motion when pulling your arm across your chest. So try it out. Use a lacrosse ball if you want to dig in deep, or a tennis ball if you’re looking to keep it light. And once you’ve spent some time showing your infraspinatus some love, let us know what you notice.
