Quick Tip: AIS Side Stretch @ Planet Granite

Posted by on Mar 10, 2014 in Stretches

Psoas is excited to be teaming up with rock climbing gym Planet Granite. This week’s Quick Tip was filmed at Planet Granite and is part one of three that aims to give rock climbers (although these are good for everyone,) a few exercises to improve your performance. Also, we’re excited to let you know that we will be at Planet Granite SF on Thursday, 3/13 to do some free quick sessions and assessments to anyone attending their Singles and Swingers event. Check it out at the end of the post!

Who needs this exercise?

The climber looking to grab the hold just out of reach. Lengthening all of the muscles in the side of your body will allow your arms to reach further, especially when an inch or two is all you need.

For the best results:

  • Do Active Isolated Stretches slowly, with your breath, and without pain
  • Make 10-12 passes on each side

Note: if you are experiencing severe pain or numbness and tingling in your arms and hands see a professional before attempting this or other stretches. If you feel excess pain during the stretch, discontinue until checking with a professional.
