Quick Tip: Are your calves marathon-ready?

Are you training for the SF Marathon at the end of the month? Wondering if you’re doing everything possible to stay healthy and run your best race? Our clinical team is here to help. We offer pre-event sports massage to help you optimize recovery time, increase range of motion, and prevent injury. So if you have questions about how bodywork can support your goals for this event, just reach out to one of our intake specialists!

In the meantime, make sure you’re stretching in a way that supports your body’s best performance. Since our runner clients often come in with a lot of tension in the calves, we’re highlighting two videos on the lower-leg this week. Check out this two-part calf stretch to help you target both of the two main calf muscles: the gastrocnemius and the harder-to-reach soleus. And check out this video on how to do a little self-massage on the calves; this can help keep the blood flowing and the connective tissue healthy. Let us know how these feel, and make sure to keep us updated on how your training’s going!
