Quick Tip: Is your psoas ready to run?

Are you running in either the Kaiser Permanente SF Half Marathon® or the Rattlesnake Ramble next month? If so, make sure to review two of our past quick tips on how to incorporate bodywork and stretching, before your race and after. And while you’re at it, check out this week’s quick tip: the Alternative AIS Psoas Stretch.

Though we think our classic AIS Psoas Stretch is a great pre-run warm-up, it’s not for everyone. We’ve found that some clients have difficulty maintaining balance, and end up creating new patterns of tension elsewhere in the body. If that sounds familiar, check out the video below for instructions on how to use props to actively stretch the psoas — with more depth and more support. Try it out before you run, and let us know what you notice.
