Quick Tip: The Soleus Stretch

Posted by on Nov 22, 2013 in Stretches

Have you been walking around the city a bunch with this great fall weather? Did you party in your fabulous new pair of high heels? If so, you might be experiencing some residual calf pain. When you think of calf pain, the two big muscles right below the back of the knee are usually the first thought. But there’s another muscle hiding back there. It’s under the other muscles and Achilles tendon, and it runs from the knee to the heel. It’s called the Soleus muscle, and it can be tricky to get to if it’s feeling tight, (unless you’re one of our highly trained therapists!) So try this stretch out, and keep that Soleus free from pain!

The Soleus is a difficult muscle to stretch. We have highlighted it before, but we have found that no stretch is felt by all people. So here is another one for you to try. It’s easy, can be done anywhere, and it’s effective. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
