D. BACOME (THEY/THEM)

D’s passion for bodywork began at the young age of seven, when their grandparents’ complaints of shoulder soreness and painful headaches inspired them to massage their grandparents until they felt better. When their grandparents remarked that their discomfort continually decreased, D was so thrilled with their recovery that they dedicated themselves to therapeutic bodywork from then on.

MORE ABOUT D...

Viewing bodywork as a direct way of improving peoples’ quality of life and reducing the causes of discomfort and pain, they focused their training, assistant teaching, and extracurricular studies on structural, neurological and movement-based bodywork methods.  They graduated from the Sierra Massage School in 2006, the San Francisco School of Massage in 2009, and the California Institute for Bodywork Education in 2010. Inspired by the pain reduction their family achieved, D began a blend of sports massage, deep tissue, and myofascial therapy in 2010, working primarily with people who had pain, injuries, and soreness that had not been successfully treated by other professionals.

In 2016, D became fully certified in Active Release Therapy (A.R.T). Using a blend of sports massage and deep tissue that’s greatly informed by intensive study in fascial release, physiology, and neurological bodywork or full A.R.T sessions, D has had great success in helping athletes and people in ongoing pain and discomfort find relief and increased performance through massage. By actively listening to each clients’ needs and asking about their daily activities, their attention to detail and knowledge of the interconnectedness of the body, along with their integrated style of bodywork, allows them to catch and retrain subtle movement patterns that keep people in pain, and perform deep tissue that addresses soreness and discomfort while treating their underlying causes. This attention to detail and passion for truly therapeutic work led them to be selected as a sports massage therapist for the America’s Cup Oracle Racing Team in 2012 and 2013. They bring this experience and 4 years of clinical bodywork experience treating pain and movement imbalances to their sessions. An avid swimmer and hiker, D loves to explore natural spaces in the city and find new running trails.
